I’m really pumped to share about this because this topic is probably the very first thing that catapulted me into the growth journey that I had been on for the last few years. It really took me from a life where I felt like I did not have any control over my circumstances. I felt like I was doing all the right things but still seemingly getting all the wrong results and struggling and feeling like you know, all of these things were happening to me, and then I couldn’t control my circumstances. I had no say in the outcomes of my life.
This was the thing that opened my eyes and really completely created just such a massive shift in my perspective, and really rerouted my entire life and brought me to where I am right now. So you are in for a massive treat today. We’re going to be talking about how wanting a positive result is not the same thing as thinking positive thoughts.
So my birthday was this past Saturday. One of the things that I have been wanting to do for a really long time is get my nose pierced and I figured, hey, I’m turning 33 I’m not getting any younger. So let’s just do it. So I went and got my nose pierced. And one of the things that the piercer said has really just stuck in me and it has been causing me to have so many negative thoughts. What he said was to make sure that I am cleaning it and that I’m not touching it with my fingers because black skin is more prone to keloids. Not meaning like in a in a like rude or negative way. Like it’s just the fact that you know, darker skin is more prone to get keloids.
I internalized that and I’ve been like manically cleaning my piercing 4-5 times a day even though he said twice a day is fine. I am like being so cautious about touching it. And then yesterday, I had my sunglasses on, I was pulling them off of my face. The sunglass got caught on my nose ring and like lifted it and pulled it up and I panicked! I was like OMG I hope it’s not gonna get infected. I hope this isn’t gonna like give it a keloid. Like all these things just start crossing my mind.
In my mind the thought that I have been thinking is please don’t get a keloid. Please don’t get infected, please don’t get a keloid. So I am thinking this thought and the result that I want is to have a pretty smooth, nice looking nose ring, right. I mean it looks great right now I love it. I’m obsessed with it. I wish I would have done it sooner. But the thought that I am thinking does not align with the result that I actually want.
The result that I want is to have a pretty nose ring. A nose ring where there is no infection, no keloid no bumps, just a nice smooth nose ring that heals nicely and is healthy. That’s the result I want. A healthy, healed nose ring. But the thought that I am thinking is “don’t get a keloid, don’t get a bump. Don’t get infected. Don’t mess it up.”
Those are two different things. And so today I had to stop myself and say “okay, the thought that you were thinking and the result that you are wanting do not match.” Thinking positive thoughts is different than wanting a positive result. I want a positive result, all of us want positive results. All of us all the time want the best. We want the positive result. But if the thought that you are thinking is not positive, you are basically saying I want this negative thing to happen. Because your subconscious cannot distinguish negatives. So by me thinking, I want I don’t want to get a keloid. I don’t want it to get infected. What my subconscious is hearing is get infected, get a keloid. It cannot hear and decipher the don’t part of that thought.
So rather than thinking don’t get a keloid it don’t get infected. What I need to be focusing on instead is please heal nicely, please stay healthy. That is the thought that I should be thinking because that is the thought that my subconscious is going to soak in and it is going to be the thing that I end up manifesting. But if I continue to think the thought of “don’t get a keloid, don’t get infected.” What I’m really manifesting for myself what I really attracting is the keloid and infection.
All of us have good intentions behind what it is that we want for our lives in our businesses. We all have these positive things that we want to happen to us. We want a business that is successful, the team that is going to grow, the clients, we want these positive outcomes and desires for our lives and businesses.
But there are two different ways that you can think about those desires. And one of them is positive and one of them is negative. So you can either be thinking your desires from a negative perspective, or you can be thinking about your desires from a positive perspective.
I’ve been thinking about my year to have a healthy, healed nose ring from the negative perspective. And now I know that you’re over there thinking about all the thoughts that you have ever thought about your business and about your life that was from a negative perspective. Right? So if you’re on your way to work, you’re like “Oh, don’t be late. Don’t be late. Don’t be late.” The outcome that you want as positive you want to get to work on time. But the thought that you were thinking is don’t be late. So what you are really attracting is be late. Because the don’t gets cancelled out.
When really the positive version of that same desire, the positive thought that you can have to get the same outcome that you want from that circumstance is let’s be on time, let’s be on time. So instead of thinking, don’t be late, what you really want to shift and think about is let’s be on time.
And truly, because we know (and I say this all the time,) that your thoughts drive your feelings, and your feelings drive your actions. When you want thinking, don’t be late, the energy, the feeling that comes from that thought is negative. You’re gonna start to feel panic, anxious, stressed. You’re gonna start to feel all over the place discombobulated. So your energy coming from that is going to be not great energy.
So then the action that is coming from that energy that you are putting out is going to be the negative action. It’s going to be action that is filled with anxiety, panic and rush, and you’re gonna be all over the place and you’re gonna forget your lunchbox on the table and you’re gonna forget all the things and you’re going to run into traffic. All these things are going to happen because of the thought and the perspective that the thought is placed in.
Instead, if you thought, let’s be on time, what feelings and energy are going to come through from that thought? You’re going to feel calm, at peace, positive, excited, good because you’re like, let’s be on time, we’re going to be on time. We’re going to make it to work on time. And so you’re going to feel better. And the energy that comes through is going to be good energy. So the action that you take, it’s going to be good action. This is the same thing and it applies to every aspect of your life and your business.
You have to stop and start thinking about the way that you’re thinking about things. So that starts by being really really aware of your thoughts. Taking the time to be like what thoughts “Am I thinking? How am I thinking this thought? Am I thinking this thought from a positive perspective, or from a negative perspective?” I know that the desire that I want is good. No one’s over here like “Oh, I hope it’s I hope I make it to work late. I hope my business fails. I hope I don’t make any money this month” Nobody is thinking those thoughts.
You want the good outcome, but the way that you are thinking about it can be from a negative perspective. So if you are like I want to make money this month. I want to make $5,000 this month, but the way that you’re thinking about it is I hope my clients don’t cancel their orders. Rather than thinking I really want to get more clients. I’m really excited about my clients continuing to place new orders this month.
If that’s the way you’re thinking about it, your subconscious is hearing the excited version of that same desire. They’re hearing the version that says “we want more, we’re excited for more, we desire more” Rather than hearing that version of it that is saying “less, one, zero” You want to attract the thing from the positive place.
This is something that you can take and apply into your life in your business, shape and form. You’re going to see crazy, insane results from this. This was the thing that really started quantum leap in my life and business. From being someone who struggled to get clients, to make sales, to build the team to seemingly overnight growing this massive team, building this massive business, earning six figures a year in what felt like an instant.
All of it was because I shifted my energy behind the desires that I want. My desires didn’t really change I’ve always wanted the same thing, I always wanted the success. But the way that I was thinking about the success before was from a negative place. I was thinking the negative thoughts and it wasn’t taking me where I wanted to go and I felt like I couldn’t understand why because I wanted the positive result. I wanted it and I was trying I was doing the things, but the energy that was coming through from my actions was pushing me in the wrong direction.
Because I was thinking the thoughts of “I hope my team doesn’t quit this month. I hope I don’t not hit my rank this month. blablabla.” Right. And I was thinking things from a negative perspective even though the desire that I want was positive. So I had to shift the way I thought about things and I had to get really aware of the way I was thinking, and turn my navigator to the direction that I really want it to go.
So I had to look at okay, I am saying I hope my team doesn’t quit what is it that I really, truly want? What I really want is I want my team to show up into work. I want my team to be successful. I want to be a leader who has people who are excited about the business, just like I am. That’s what I really wanted. That was the real desire behind it. But the thought that I was thinking was pushing me in the wrong direction.
When you think that negative thought ask yourself, “Wait, what is it that I really want? And how can I think about this and turn my navigator into the positive direction with this thought? How can I turn myself in the direction that is going to actually lead me to where I want to go, and take me in the direction of my desires and not the opposite direction, not towards the thing that I don’t want?”
So that’s really all it takes. It is so simple, this simple shift will be a game changer for your business. This is the episode that you want to share with all the people. You want to share this with your team, your friends, any and everyone that you know that has a business or has a life that they want to attract better, bigger desires for themselves. This is like IT. I can’t even explain the game changing-ness that is in this one small little shift.
