So here’s the thing. I am doing a mentorship group with my network marketing team. So I am with two companies now. And in these two companies, I have created groups and in these mentorship groups each week, we are going to be focusing on a different core aspect to building your social selling network marketing business.
And this week, the core activity is growth. How are you going to grow your network so you have more people that you are able to reach. That is a core aspect, a core part of building any kind of business. Especially an online business. So whether you are in network marketing, whether you have a coaching business, whatever it is, having a strategy for how you are going to grow your business is vital.
And so I asked each one of them to pick a platform. So, whether that be Facebook, Facebook group, Instagram, TikTok, email, whatever it was to pick a platform that you are planning to focus on for your growth. I am doing this right along with them. And guess what I chose, I chose my podcast, my podcast right here with you ladies, because I freaking love this place so much.
I chose that this was going to be my growth. Strategy my growth platform. And once you have your platform, then you also need to know what you are going to do to grow that platform. And so for me, the intention is that I am going to show up here in this space every day for the rest of this month.
Now I want to be very clear about this, and this is what I’m going to really dive into today. I am not putting a restrictive or a pressure filled goal around this. I am setting a loose intention and the reason that I am doing it this way is because this is how I work best when it comes to creating strategies for my business.
I have done the thing where I am like, I have to show up every single day or else. And for me, that is not a productive strategy and this is why this is so important. And this is why having a mentor in your life that gets this is invaluable. We are all so different, we’re different humans. We have different strengths and lifestyles. We have different brains in the way that we think the way that we do things, the way that we act, our core makeup is all so unique and so different. And it is all good. The way that I work and operate will very likely be different than the way you work and operate.
And that is okay. We can both be good. We can both be successful. The way that I work and operate, I don’t do well when I set restrictive goals for myself. I really don’t even set goals. It makes me itchy when I think about goal setting. My throat closes up and I get real itchy and I just wanna be like, I can’t breathe.
But when I think about setting an intention and I’m like, this is where my focus is going. This is where my energy and passion are going. This is where I’m putting all of me into this space. When I set an intention, oh boy, I’m gonna go! I’m gonna do the things.
And that’s just how I work. And I know there are some people that if I was like set an intention and just let it flow, right. They’d be like ant no way I ain’t gonna do it. Ain’t gonna show up. But if I was like set a goal, you have to do it. This is your restriction. They’d be like, “yes, sir!” And get it done, but that is the beautiful thing about us as humans.
And when you have a mentor that understands that, and doesn’t try to hold you to their standards. Doesn’t try to hold you to what is working for them or what they think is the right way. And a mentor that understands that, and can see that in you and be like, you know what? “I think you’re going to be best if you do this thing, if you do it this way, this is the best strategy for you, because these are your strengths. This is your lifestyle. These are your goals.
And I know a really good mentor who is like that. Haha. It’s me!!! Yes. That is how I work with my clients. When I am working with my clients, there is no, “you have to do it this way. This is the way to do it. This is the only way to be successful. I don’t think you should do it that way because that’s not the right way.” There’s none of that around here.
When I am working with my clients, I am looking to learn your gifts, your talents, your lifestyle. And I have a gift of intuition and I just made up Facebook post the other day, where I finally own this part of who I am. I finally called myself, what I really truly believe I am. And that is an intuitive business coach.
When I really allow myself to let my intuition flow and let myself use my intuition to not only guide me in my business, but to guide my clients in their businesses, the results are insane. I truly believe that God has given me a gift of intuition and I can feel and sense things about people and about situations that other people cannot see and understand.
This came into major play the other night on our mastermind call when I was able to pull out my intuition for some of my clients on that call and say the exact things that they needed to hear before they even told me what they needed. It’s wild. I’m telling you it is wild. And so when you have a mentor that is able to do that, who is able to work with you and teach you how to work with yourself, teach you how to use your uniqueness as an advantage to your business.
I think one of the things that makes business feel really hard for a lot of people is that you are working against your natural make-up when you are trying to operate your business in a way that doesn’t align with who you are at your core.
If you are trying to push against a certain part of you because this guru said, “this is a way to build a business.” And this guru said that “this is how you have to be. You have to do these things if you wanna be successful” and you are pushing against yourself and you’re fighting against this thing, and you’re like, ah, I gotta do this thing because this is the only way I’m gonna be successful.
But inside it feels restrictive to you. It feels wrong. And you’re like, “AHHH, but I’m doing the thing and it’s not working!” Well, of course it’s not working because that strategy, that way of doing things is not in alignment with who you are.
So a part of what I do as a mentor, as a coach is to help my clients find their alignment and find the right strategies, the right things to do for them and their business. The way to look at things from their perspective. That is one of my superpowers. And that is one of the things that I am able to do with my clients.
I want you to understand that if right now you are struggling in your business or you feel like you are not getting the results that you should be getting from the action that you are taking; a big part of it could be that you are not in alignment strategically.
And so I want you to ask yourself this question. I want you to ask yourself what activities am I doing in my business right now that feel really awful to me? That when it is time for me to go do that thing, I feel restricted. I feel heavy. I feel like there is this pressure that comes from that thought of having to do that thing.
That right there is a good sign that that is an activity that maybe you are not in alignment with now.
Uncomfortable is just my sock is twisted inside of my shoe and it is very annoying. Discomfort is I broke my ankle. Right. So uncomfortable is just when you don’t feel great about the thing. Discomfort is when you feel like you might die doing the thing. When you feel like there is something terribly wrong when you do that thing.
So the second part of this is once you’ve asked yourself that question and you have these ideas of these things that you know, you are not really getting any benefit from doing that activity. It just does not feel right for you. You’re feeling discomfort around that thing. I want you to ask yourself, why you feel like you have to do that thing? Are you only doing that thing because your upline told you that that’s the thing that you needed to do? Are you only doing that thing because it’s the thing that you see everyone else doing, and so you feel like you have to do it.
If you don’t have a clear, logical reasoning to why you are doing that thing, there is a good chance that you are out of alignment when it comes to that activity for your business.
Here’s the thing about learning to grow your business from different people. Everyone has an idea of what is right and what works. 99% of people are teaching you to do things the way that it worked for them. They are teaching you their strategy that worked for them. So that guru on Instagram that is teaching you how to grow your business using reels is teaching you what worked for them.
And that thing might not work for you. It might not work for you because guess what? You are not them. And you don’t have the same lifestyle as them or personality as them. There are so many things that go into building a business, and there are 101 ways to build a business, especially now with all of these resources and platforms at the tips of our fingers.
And if you are zoned in to doing things the way that X, Y, and Z person told you to do it, because that’s the way that worked for them, you are going to maybe feel some imposter syndrome because now you’re like, “Ugh, I’m doing all the things that this person is telling me to do. And it’s still not working for me. Why, why am I not having success? Oh, no!!!” Right. And you’re gonna feel like there’s something wrong with me because it’s not working. Well, friend, it’s not working because that is not a strategy that is in alignment with you.
But the good news is there is a strategy that will and can work for every single one of you. There is a strategy that all of you can utilize that you can be successful with.
That is the best strategy. So when someone says “Oh, you gotta get out TikTok. TikTok is where it’s at. That’s where you’re gonna build your business. If you’re not on TikTok. Oh, you suck.” Right. When you hear that and you’re like, “oh my gosh, I’m not on TikTok and now my business is gonna fail.” And you feel like you’re missing out on something. You feel like you’re sabotaging your own business because you’re not doing it the way someone else said that you need to.
And someone else is like, oh, you gotta have an email list. If you don’t have an email list, what are you doing? Right. And now you’re like, oh, I don’t have an email list. What am I gonna do? I dunno what to do with my life. Oh my gosh, my business is gonna fail. Right. And so you were putting yourself in all of these different places and trying to do all of these different things, because all of these different people have told you that this way is the right way. And this is the thing that you need to do. And this is how you’re gonna be successful.
So you feel this pressure to do all the things and be in all the places and you’re not seeing the results. And so you feel like you’re doing it wrong. That’s not the vibe.
I know someone making a million dollars a month using Instagram, from posting on Instagram and Instagram stories. They are selling courses and master classes and things like that, making a million dollars on Instagram.
Why? Because their personality is that dynamic, that it comes through that screen on Instagram and they are attracting people into their world like crazy. But you know what? I also know someone who is a genius at business who doesn’t necessarily have that big, bold dynamic personality. But you know what? She is making millions of dollars using email marketing.
I also know someone who is growing a massive platform right now, and building an incredible business using TikTok because she has this vibe about her, where she can show up on TikTok and people flock to it.
And when you stop trying to do all the things. that all the people are doing and you focus on doing the thing that is right for you. You are going to start winning so much bigger. And then the other thing about it is you’re going to start to show up so much brighter because you’re gonna be happy. You’re gonna be excited to build your business because now you’re not like, “oh, let me go record this reel. Even though I hate doing reels, but everybody said I need to do reels, cuz that’s how I’m gonna build my business.” But you hate it. And you’re like, I don’t wanna do this.
Now you’re like drained because you’re doing all these things that you don’t really wanna do in your business. And you’re burnt out all every other day and you’re like, “oh, okay. This is how I have to build my business. This is business life.” No!! You know what? I have realized every time that I have a low moment in my business, where I start feeling the burn out, where I start feeling the pressure, where I start feeling out of whack in a funk, and I maybe don’t wanna show up my vibe drops.
You know what the common denominator always is? I’ve learned this so now I’m able to bring myself out of this funk so much faster. I am out of alignment every single time. It’s because I lose focus on the lane I am supposed to be driving in and I pivot into someone else’s lane.
So I want you to ask yourself right now, what things am I doing in my business right now that are out of alignment to who I am at my core. What activities am I doing that I feel really horrible about every single time I have to do it, I am like, Ugh, I don’t wanna do this thing.
There are 101 ways to build a successful business these days. There are people making millions of dollars on YouTube. There are people making millions of dollars on LinkedIn. The one that is going to work for you is the one that you feel the best about because it is the thing that allows you to shine the brightest.
And you know what, you know why that makes it work even more is because you’re gonna be consistent with it. When you’re doing something you don’t wanna do, you’re not gonna be consistent. You’re going to stop doing it because you don’t feel like doing it. So you’re gonna be like, “Ugh, I’m tired today. I’m not gonna do that thing. Ugh. I don’t wanna do this thing today because I don’t feel good.” Right? You’re gonna find excuses and reasons to not do that thing because you don’t want to. But when you find the thing that excites you and lights you up and it revives you and you feel energized after doing it, you’re going to be consistent. You’re going to show up and do that thing.
So I want you to figure out what are you maybe doing in your business that is pulling you down? And I want you to look at why do I feel like I’m doing this thing? Where did I learn this from? Where did I pick up this idea that I have to do this thing? And then I want you to really start to look at where you feel like your magic is.
Where do you feel like you shine? Are you an amazing speaker? You know you can talk to a plant all day and it would pay attention to you, right? Like, do you need to start a podcast because you’re a good talker and you have that vibe? Is your personality larger than life and you wanna really focus on Instagram and going all in on Instagram because you know that you have this dynamic and big, bold, bright personality that is gonna translate so big and bold on Instagram.
Are you a person who has this vibe that where you can dance and groove and you’re gonna get on TikTok? Like, what is it, where is your magic? And really figure out where you are going to be able to ignite that magic. Crank it up, turn it on, let it blast. That is when you are going to start to see the shift in your business.
