A couple of days ago I went live in my VIP group on Facebook to talk about what I am doing to ensure that my business continues to grow despite feeling like Instagram has it out for me right now. I feel like my reach has plummeted recently on Instagram and while I’m still really grateful for the community and the people that I do have in that space, because it’s not like I’m getting 0 reach, I have definitely seen a drop in my reach. And because I am a CEO and I am running a business, I am not going to let something outside of my control be the thing that prevents me from getting the results that I desire for my business.
So I’m going to be sharing four of the things that I’m going to be implementing, some strategies, and some pivots that I am going to be making to ensure that my content and trainings and all the things that I need to put out into the world to continue to grow my business or being seen by the people who need to see it. So if you can relate and you’re feeling like you are not getting the reach that you desire or you feel like you are having a hard time growing your network, growing your audience. This is the episode for you.
The elevation of the ladies in that mastermind that’s happening right now is blowing my freaking mind. I am talking about ladies who are tripling their story views. We have ladies in there who are growing their incomes and their side hustles, who are growing, their network marketing teams. They have people coming out of the woodworks joining their teams. We have ladies who are just feeling like they’re on a whole new level, what they’re capable of, where their business is going, and it is exactly what I envisioned when I said I wanted to create a space.
I wanted to create a mastermind, a container where women would be able to feed off of my energy, and then also be able to use the knowledge, the expertise that I have gained over the many, many years that I have been in this industry. And that I have been growing my business using social media and other platforms to be able to support them in their own businesses in their own growth. And it is just such an incredible space but it was only four weeks and so it ends at the end of July and I was like no way this has to be a thing forever because this is the place where women are going to start to see massive transformations in their lives and in their businesses. This is the space for you, if you want to go to the next level, if you want to start creating a bigger impact.
You don’t want to just build a business, you want to create a movement.
You want to just completely elevate every area of your life and your business and explode. If that is you, you want to get in on this mastermind. I wanted to chat about some of the ways that I’m going to be pivoting, some strategies I’m going to be implementing in my business to continue to grow, progress, and scale despite my main platform where I typically most of my clients and sales has been dropping in reach. My reach has been lower that it what typically is, so I’ve been thinking about how I’m going to shift so that I can continue to grow and scale my business even if that’s happening.
One of the things that we like to do is we want to blame the algorithm, place blame on all the things outside our control. We start to place blame and give away our power to things we don’t have control over.
The worst possible thing you can do when you’re growing your business is to give away your power.
You’re in control of your own growth, results, and success. It’s 100% in your hands. When you look at it that way, you start to show up differently because then you know it’s all up to you. You have that power. Nobody and nothing else can take that away from you. It’s no longer his fault or that thing’s fault that you’re not having success. You get to take ownership of your own success, and there’s nothing more powerful than that.
If you want boss level results, then you have to show up like you’re a big shot CEO. Bosses aren’t crying in the corner because the algorithm is screwing them over. They’re problem solvers, they look for ways on how to pivot and shift their strategy. Think of all the corporations that had to pivot when COVID hit. They were doing mind-blowing things that continued to grow their business. That’s the mindset of a CEO.
If we want to continue to grow, we’re going to take ownership. We’re not going to let things outside of our control bring our business down. We’re in control over our own success. When you decide that it’s up to you, you stop giving away your power to things outside of you, you stop making excuses, and you start to show up with that big boss energy.
I’ve looked at my business that way. I am the CEO. The way that I have been growing my business is a lil shaky right now but I don’t have control over that – the algorithm, the reach, etc. I know my reach has been pretty low recently, and I’ve talked about this with my Mastermind ladies, that we have to look at those numbers (the views and the reach) as actual humans. Don’t look at it like “OMG my reach has been soo low!” But look at it like “Wow 100 humans saw my content.” That’s a lot of people when you think about it. Even though it has been lower recently, doesn’t mean it’s invisible.
I’ve been taking time to appreciate those humans that see my content. I’m appreciative about the people that it is put in front of. Every single one of those views are real-life humans and I’m so grateful for that. I’m feeling thankful but at the same time thinking that if I want to grow more, some things have to shift.
Here are some of the things I’m going to be doing to pivot:
- Adding more value
- Instagram is my main platform for my biz. I’m shifting from looking at it as “how many people” to “how can I make an impact to the people that are here.” How can I educate more, give them a better experience, add more value to the people in my space.
- I’m going to be sharing more tips, more educational stuff, giving tips, trainings, going live more so I can still be in that space and I want to nurture and impact my community. – Even if it’s a smaller number of people than what I’m used to, I’m still going to love and nurture the ones that ARE there because I’m grateful for them.
- Switching my account from a creator account back to a personal account
- This is more of a work in process, see where it goes type of thing! I can no longer see insights on my IG, so I can’t see my reach. I’m doing this because I got the paid creator thing where I get paid for making reels. The more views, the more money you make. I turned that on and then I started hearing that once you do that, IG purposely lowers your reach so then they wouldn’t have to pay you that much. Not sure if that’s factual but I personally noticed my reach has significantly dropped after I turned that on.
- This has been beneficial to me because now I’m focused on making valuable content, and not on how many people are seeing my posts. It’s more just me being in the zone.
- Focusing a lot more on my podcast
- There was a point I was super focused on it, consistently releasing 2 episodes a week. I was seeing a lot of growth in there but I got lax with it. I would put up an episode once or every other week. So I want to make sure I have at least 2 episodes every single week, that way I could reach more people. I can’t tell you how many ladies discovered me through my podcast.
- The goal is to bring more people into my world from the podcast by creating really good episodes. That will drive people back to my other platforms like IG and FB groups.
- Putting more time and effort in my Facebook group
- I’ve had this FB group for a looong time, and it has pivoted with me through my different business ventures. I want to pour myself back into the group, going live, doing some masterclasses, focusing on growing and nurturing this space.
- Focusing more on Email Marketing
- I know not everyone is a fan of email marketing, but it still works! The goal is to be so consistent that you’re the first thing that comes to mind when someone’s ready to hop in because they see your emails on a regular basis. I want to send out nurturing-type emails and selling too. Like announcing when I have launches, sales, etc.
So I’m pretty much everywhere! The name of the game is SERVE AND SELL. I’m going to nurture and then also sell in those spaces.
Are these going to be more than what I’ve been doing? YES! But it’s exciting because I feel like this is going to give me more support for my clients because I can tell them what worked for me, maybe you should try these too.
A lot of what business is is trying things and see what works. We have this mindset that we have to get it right the first time. And if you get it wrong then you’re a failure and it’s never going to work for you. That’s just not the truth. It’s all about trying, seeing what works, tweaking, rearranging, pivoting, scrapping things completely and starting from scratch again.
When you start looking at your business with big CEO energy, like Elon Musk or Bill Gates, do you think they got it right the first time? Absolutely not! They tried over and over again until they got everything right.
What I keep seeing in this industry is that when it doesn’t work the first time, you immediately feel like a failure and it won’t work for you. WHAT?! That’s not how it works. Try the thing, and if it doesn’t work, try something else.
You have to try new things until you figure out what works for you.
You won’t know what works until you know what doesn’t work. A lot of figuring out what works is first figuring out what doesn’t work. The things that I do in my biz now that are really successful for me are things that I learned from messing it up.
When you become okay with your things not working exactly the way you thought they’re supposed to work, you start to go with the flow. You start to act and move differently. This is why I make big moves is because I’m not afraid to “break” my business and messing it up. If it doesn’t work, I’ll figure it out. I trust myself that much. I trust that I have the knowledge, skill set, authority, support, everything I need to figure it out.
A part of building your business is messing it up.
