Before talking about standing out, let’s talk about fitting in first. That, more than anything, is the actual problem here. It’s not necessarily what you need to do to stand out, it’s what you need to stop doing to stop trying to fit in. When you’re in Network Marketing, you end up surrounded by other people who sell the same products as you. You’re always spending time with your team, your leaders, and other people in the same company. It can be very easy to start to water down the things that make you special because you want to fit in. 2 main things start to happen:

1. you start to pick up habits that other people you’re surrounded by are doing.

2. you end up watering yourself down because you want to fit in.

I know when I was just starting in Network Marketing, I was seeing all these successful leaders and thinking: “I have to be just like them if I want to succeed.”. So I did what they did, dressed the way they did, posted like they did, even did my hair like theirs! You want to be just like them, so you end up changing the things that make you unique to fit in. You water yourself down because you’re scared you might be too much for other people. You might be too loud, too crazy, too funny, too pretty. So we make ourselves small so we fit in and not ruffle any feathers. But let me tell you girlfriend, if you want to stand out in this business, you have to start showing up as yourself. You’ve got to stop showing up as the most generic version of you.

Stop watering yourself down so that you can be more pleasing to more palettes. The thing is, you’re not going to taste amazing to everyone and that’s OKAY. When you start showing up fully as yourself, you’re going to attract the right people to you. AND THAT IS THE MISSING LINK for a lot of people in this industry. You’re trying so hard to fit in because you think that’s will make people like you. But honestly, all you’re doing is lowering your own value because people will overlook you. You’re only attracting the wrong kind of people.

If you want to start being taken seriously in this business and you want to start standing out amongst the crowd, you have to figure out what makes you unique. Start letting those things show up boldly for the world to see. Let those things shine! Are you the girl who is bright and vibrant, but right now you’re showing up dull because you’re afraid you’re going to be too bright and too shiny for people. Are you the girl who’s a bit edgy but right now, you’re not showing that side because you’re afraid that not everybody’s going to understand it. What’s going to make you stand out is the thing that makes you different. When you fit in, you look and sound just like everyone else. No one’s going to pay attention to you when they see the same posts just like everybody else.

Go make a list of ALL the things that are unique about you. Don’t overthink it! Write down as many things as you can think of. Write down things that you don’t think you should be, but who you are at your core. And then, do the opposite. What are you NOT? Make a list of all the things that aren’t you. Then compare your lists and find out what are the things that will make you different amongst the majority. It doesn’t have to be a unique characteristic, it can be something you do differently than most people.

It’s time to step out of the crowd, be unafraid of showing up boldly, and set yourself apart!
